Damned join Eagles 

The desert rockers cover New Rose on final night of UK tour

09 April 2009 - Eagles of Death Metal were joined onstage by The Damned's drummer Rat Scabies last night (April 8) as they wrapped up their UK tour.

The veteran sticksman made a guest appearance at the London Forum for a cover of the punk rockers' debut single New Rose.  Introducing Scabies, flame haired frontman Jesse 'The Devil' Hughes said: "One thing I love about playing in London is you can play with your friends too. Everybody Rat Scabies."

It was one of a series of covers thrown into their set along with Stealers Wheel's 70s classic Stuck In The Middle With You and The Rolling Stones' Brown Sugar.

The band also played a host of tracks from their recent albumHeart Onincluding Wannabe In L.A. and Prissy Prancing, which saw Jesse duet with Kim 'Koko Bubbles'.

Speaking before the gig Jesse enlightened 6 Music on some of his favourite venues.

"I love playing Koko man, that place is rad, so cool such a traditional theatre," he enthused."Madame Jo Jos is pretty cool too but my favourite place to play is in Holland at this bizarre log cabin which turns into an old American saloon. It’s nuts man.""I believe in Sir Paul McCartney - he is a hero to me." Jesse Hughes on The Beatles 

The singer also hailed plans to remaster The Beatles entire back catalogue.

The joint venture will see all 13 of their original studio albums revamped and will replace their previous remastered versions, which were released in 1987.

"The first Jimi Hendrix remasters revealed a source limitation and you could hear the actual tape edit cuts," he said.

"But I believe in Sir Paul McCartney. He is a hero to me and I absolutely believe that man knows what he's doing so I'm sure they'll be fantastic."To hear more from Jesse tune into The Music Week on Sunday (12 April) from 1pm.
